Drinking tap water

Here, where the salty North Sea air is always in the breeze, we can all benefit from a simple but powerful step: drinking tap water. Imagine filling your glass straight from the tap. No plastic bottles, no glass to recycle. Not only is it convenient, it conserves our island’s resources.

By avoiding plastic bottles, we avoid the hassle of lugging water bottles around. Not to mention the money that stays in your pocket instead of being spent on expensive bottled water. Here on Borkum, every euro saved makes a difference.

As Borkum’s water master, I can tell you that I prefer to hold my own glass under the tap. The cool water that comes out is a daily reminder that the best refreshment comes straight from our own pipes – it couldn’t be easier or healthier!

Switching to tap water also has far-reaching effects. Every plastic bottle saved reduces the amount of trash that threatens our oceans and helps protect our planet. Just as the ocean around us is connected to every beach and cove, our small actions are connected to the big wide world. So let’s do the right thing together.
