From beach vacationer to beach explorer. There is now a new way for North Sea vacationers to explore the diverse marine nature. The Wadden Sea Conservation Station has created a unique access to the natural experience by the sea with the Internet portal BeachExplorer.

The portal offers digital help for the identification of well over 1000 different species. Natural beach finds and even marine litter can be identified. Each beach find is explained in detail through profiles and background information. The finds can then be registered directly on the beach via a free app are reported in a database and provide data for research on the North Sea coast. The concept was developed by the Wadden Sea Conservation Station and the Lighthouse Foundation. The BeachExplorer is funded by the Federal Environment Ministry from the Federal Biodiversity Program of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation.
