Where family time, bathing fun and promenade flair come together

Beach with red and white bathing cart and people at the water's edge.

Between North and SüdbadLocated directly on the lively promenade and at the level of the North Sea Aquarium, there is a particularly popular bathing area. The bathing area, supervised by the DLRG (German Lifesaving Association), offers ideal conditions for a carefree day at the seaside – even for families with children.

The DLRG-guarded bathing area offers everything you need for a perfect day at the beach. The Südbad

Everything you could wish for from a beach

The Südbad at Borkum

When in the evening on top of the dune above the Südbad the red and white striped electric Leuchtturm When the sun is setting, and ocean liners set sail from the mouth of the Ems, it sometimes seems almost unreal. With so much North Sea romance, the only thing missing is Captain Bluebear.

And the DLRG-monitored Südbad everything you need for a successful beach holiday. Here you can rent beach chairs and tents, there are milk stalls where crab sandwiches, herring, baked potatoes, red fruit compote and all the other culinary BorkumClassics are served. And because our four-legged friends also love the sand and water, there's also a designated dog beach here. Restrooms, car parking, and bicycle storage are just a few meters away.

Important to know: For nature conservation reasons, the city Borkum and the North Sea spa Borkum GmbH has been prohibited by the Waterways and Shipping Authority from clearing the Krischan-Wolters-Pad of sand. As a result, the path is no longer accessible and is also impassable by bicycle. An alternative path solution, using loop boards, has been laid across the beach from Heimliche Liebe to the black revetment until a permanent solution is found that meets all permit requirements.

marine debris

Waste prevention on the beach

Marine litter is a growing problem worldwide. It is also being found on the North Sea islands. Marine mammals and birds can injure themselves, become entangled, strangle, or starve if their stomachs are filled with debris. If you find washed-up marine litter on your way back from the beach, you can dispose of it in the beach litter boxes. The marine life and Borkum say "Thank you!" for this. The boxes are placed at regular intervals and also at beach entrances, so you don't have to take a detour on your way home.
