With 580 beds, the youth hostel Borkum It's actually the largest youth hostel in Germany. Some might argue that size doesn't matter—which is usually true. But anyone who has experienced the atmosphere in this hostel, who has been there when young people from all over Germany and the world gather here, will be disabused of this notion and swept away by the atmosphere. It's often record-breaking.
Location: Since October 1996, the German Youth Hostel Association has taken over the approximately 20 hectare site of the former Navy Seamanship Training Group. It is located between the ferry port, the Wadden Sea and the sheltered harbor in the south of the island. It takes just under 15 minutes to get to town by bus and island train, and about 30 minutes by bike.
Accommodation: There are shared rooms, but also single and double rooms. In total there are 700 beds in 169 rooms.
Target group: Due to its size, the hostel Borkum It's particularly suitable for school classes, sports groups, conferences and seminars, and recreational retreats. And it's also a practical advantage that larger groups can often find accommodation here at short notice.
Meals: There is a breakfast buffet from 07:30 to 09:00, daily vegetarian dishes, gluten-free dishes on request and a microwave.
Equipment: In the youth hostel on Borkum There's a beach volleyball court, a soccer field, a covered barbecue area, and even a bowling alley. Wi-Fi, a washing machine, dryer, and parking are also available.
