Borkum in the age of whaling: A look back to the golden age
In the late 17th and 18th centuries, Borkum a golden age that was closely linked to whaling. For around 100 years, this risky hunt for the giant marine mammals brought prosperity to the island – but also suffering and loss. Our themed tour sheds light on how and why the Borkumhe once embarked on this dangerous venture and how whaling had a lasting impact on life on the island.
