On Maundy Thursday we commemorate the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples.
At that time, he spoke the words of blessing and interpretation over the bread and wine – still a central element of our Eucharistic celebrations today.
In the service we commemorate this prelude to the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.
During the subsequent "Mount of Olives vigil" until 9:30 p.m., there is an opportunity to pray in silence.
