Experience “seasonal highlights” on our combo tour Borkum time and again – in harmony with nature. In addition to discovering the unique landscape, flora and fauna, important topics such as island, species and nature conservation can be experienced practically with the help of hearing, binoculars, spotting scopes and magnifying glasses. Because Steffen Wagener knows Borkum not only like the back of his hand, he is also a volunteer national park warden and always pays special attention to the protection and development of the dunes, the beach, the birds, insects and plants Borkums.

"Borkums seasonal highlights" consists of a consistent route along the beautiful cycle paths in the west of the island and short hikes to seasonally changing highlights.

Cycling tour (approx. 14 km):

Explore the bike paths along the promenade and eastward into the island's interior with Steffen. Enjoy the diverse nature, the expanse, and the constantly changing flora and fauna on both sides of the path. At the lock of Lake Tüskendör, it's time for a short break—and time to grab your binoculars. The lake, the adjacent mudflats, and the multitude of birds to be discovered here never fail to delight ornithologists (and those who aspire to be ornithologists). The rest of the route takes you through the outer meadows to Ostland with its spectacular dunes, before turning west again, and you cycle back toward Hotel Bakker with beautiful views of the lush green dunes that flow into the long sandy beach.

Hiking tour (approx. 3 km):

Starting from the cycle route, Steffen Wagener offers seasonal and weather-dependent hikes. They begin at different points along the route and lead you deeper into nature. BorkumSturdy footwear is recommended. At the end of the hike, you'll return to the parked bikes and continue the cycling route.
